Lydia and her encounter with Balthazar - the beginnings

After graduating from a prestigious university, Lydia became a government employee. This was not her original plan but her mom forced her,  thinking that Lydia would be able to save a lot from her salary. Think of the free lunch and daily snacks that went with it. They owned a small cafeteria near her place of work.

The job did not allow intellectual challenge. It was simply a  boring,  job. At first there were no complications. Unfortunately, Lydia "fell in love" with her office mate. He was a man looking for his own direction, having had issues with his father. His mom died before he could finish a university degree and this made him even sadder.

Two people both starting life, met and decided to fall in love. Though both seemed compatible, their friends  knew right away that the relationship would not last. In fact, the relationship came into fruition because someone just won a bet. The bettors? The man and his co-employees. It was clear from the start that the woman was far superior in intellect. The man was an undergraduate.

In the meantime, Lydia was having problems at home. Her parents were on the verge of a separation. Her mother told her to go ahead. She can leave the house. get her own place, take with her all her belongings. There was no more time. It was reported that her father will soon leave the house and he was going to cart away all the  things the family owned.

So one day she moved out. Together with a friend and a co-worker, they rented an apartment. Her friend's boyfriend slept there most days. Balthazar, her boyfriend did the same. It was an arrangement that most people at that time would frown on. It could not be helped, she convinced herself. It was a necessary "evil".

And so the problems began.

She and her friend got pregnant. Her friend decided not to keep the baby. Her boyfriend was married, after all. Lydia decided on her own to keep her baby. Her own boyfriend wanted an abortion but she was too afraid to do it.   Under these conditions, Lydia resigned from work. It would be too embarrasing . The boyfriend didn't want to marry her. And worse, the boyfriend started avoiding her. After several months, he also resigned from his job.

Back at home, Lydia's father decided to leave the house. Yes, he brought along everything, leaving nothing behind. It was a form of punishment. He wanted Lydia's mom to suffer financially, so he could force her into submission. But that was not going to happen.

Meanwhile, Lydia was in hiding. She could not show herself to her family, or what's left of it,  because she was already big with her baby. It was just the beginning of a series of a tumultous events that would leave her scarred for life.

Her mom decided to take her back, together with all the shame and worn-down pride. Her daughter was supposed to be intelligent. But what happened? She had become an unwed mother. Her mom avoided coming home. She would often stay at the restaurant and would not acknowledge Lydia's presence during the few times she visited their place of business.

It was too heartbreaking. There was only her friend to go with her during her pre-natals.

Mr. Prince looks like more than a prince

Therese uses the face of that great actor Robert Downey to portray his lover, Mr. Prince. Any similarities in lives led?

That's for you to take a guess, if you care to.

The Prince of her dreams

Yes, among all the lovers Therese had, it is Mr. Prince, that she fell in love with. In fact she could say, that right now her feelings for him have not diminished despite the many restrictions surrounding their 'relationship'.

Therese met Mr. Prince 14 years ago. She was still working very actively then. He was her neighbor. He lived alone. His wife left because she could no longer stand his womanizing. Because they were neighbors, she got to see him once in awhile, until one day, they discovered that they were both lonely and needed each other to warm and lust the night away. It happened in his place where they were drinking.

But Therese was with another man then. This man came to see her some days and every time, the visit turned to be a disaster. It wasn't too long that the man decided to just give support to his son and nothing else.

In the meantime, Mr. Prince conveniently provided Therese with a shoulder to cry on, someone who made her laugh with his nonsense and jokes. The arrangement was good. He was just next door. But there was a problem, he was out of work. It came to a point where he could no longer afford to pay his apartment and was asked to leave. Meanwhile, Therese was stuck in the place where they originally met.

Therese learned little by little about Mr. Prince. He essentially had a kind heart. But most times, he chewed too much more than he could swallow. She also eventually found out that the wife left with his kids; and that he had other consorts, one was a woman with whom he has a son, and another from whom he has three sons. These two, plus other unnamed and other short-lived flings on the side punctuated his existence. Mr. Prince's life was actually a big mess.

Therese was not sure why, despite the mess he brought along with him, she still longed and wanted to be near him. Why? He obviously had no money. Ironically, on countless times, Therese was more than willing to loan him money. Out of job and no clear life direction, Mr. Prince needed another lost soul to give a semblance of life to get on. There were points when Therese was clueless, not sure what to do. There were many questions: how he arrived at the life he was trying to live when she met him. Therese knew nothing substantial about his women, what they were like, or what sort of lifestyle they led. All she knew was that the woman with three kids was in a job which required international travel every year. About the other one, it was actually, also sketchy at one point.

But things will unfold to shock the daylights out of Therese.

Watch out for more.

Mr. Jones is Therese's current boyfriend

Mr. Jones is the father of Therese's youngest daughter, who is 1 1/2 years old. He is rich, educated and holds a responsible position in a very large company. He never comes to Therese apartment, only if really, really needs to, like when they both have an unsettled altercation. The last time was when he accused Therese of infidelity. The nerve. Who is he to speak to me about infidelity. True, he provides support for his child. But, they have this arrangement. Therese is not exclusive to him.

Mr. Jones kind of jealous of Therese's past lovers, specifically, Mr. Prince, who fathered one of her kids. This is what she can not comprehend. He wants to have all the rights with her , and yet Therese didn't have any with him. Her fault. She is a mistress.

This is my Mr. Jones look-alike, Hollywood actor and TV star, Timothy Busfield, to give a better look and feel of one of the characters in these stories.

And then came the children

So far, Therese has a boy, the eldest, and three girls. As to who fathered each child will have to remain a secret.

Therese's life's been great. She could not ask for more. She has what she needs materially as a result of a flourishing 'socially oriented' career. But in between, she had to give birth to her children. For one, she didn't engage in abortion. Her children were conceived and they were brought into this world she thought, for a reason. And whether, those reasons would lead to hurting everyone or anyone if they found out, is another story.

That is not within Therese purview anymore. Only time will tell.

Therese, a Piere Angeli look-alike?

This is the Italian actress Piere Angeli. Although she is not an exact replica, many ( specially the DOM's) say Therese's looks take after her.

If Piere Angeli does not seem familiar, here are some bits of info from Wikipedia - She was born as Ana Maria Piere Angeli on June 19.

Piere Angeli was launched by MGM "in Teresa (1951, Fred Zinnemann). Enthusiastic reviews for her eloquent and understated performance compared her to Greta Garbo. She received an Oscar nomination and won a Golden Globe. With Stewart Granger she played in The Light Touch (1952, Richard Brooks). She indeed brought a light touch of innocence to the film, but her next few films would be respectable but unexciting".

"Pier had a relationship with James Dean but, under pressure from her domineering mother, she married Catholic singer Vic Damone in 1954. MGM discovered another European ingénue, Leslie Caron, and they loaned Angeli out to other studios. At Warner Bros she made The Silver Chalice (1954, Victor Saville) which was only remarkable for the debut of Paul Newman".

"During the 1960's she worked in Europe. Few of her films during that period were notable, despite a strong performance in The Angry Silence (1960, Guy Green). She was reunited with Stewart Granger for Sodom and Gomorrah (1962, Robert Aldrich) and she played a brief role in Battle of the Bulge (1965, Ken Annakin). She made her final appearance in the low-budget sci-fi opus Octaman (1971, Harry Essex). On 10 September 1971 she was found dead of a barbiturate overdose. She was only 39 years old".

Now that you know who Therese look like, are you still wondering why she was popular with the men?

Who is Therese?

She has fantasized about getting a man of her own. Someone, who will father her four kids, at current count. They are not from one man but from several. She is totally not having pangs of guilt at all, for such is what life has taught her, thus far. She is not ashamed. She remains remorseless.

Why should she? Overall, life has treated Therese badly. She can only suffer so much. Experiencing pain and hunger at a young age, she learned to fend and take care of her own needs, as well as that of her mother.

Still a teen, she met this man who promised to help. Being young and naive, she found only too soon that he was just after her youthful body. And so the men began coming and slipping away from her life. Guilt? There were mouths to feed, bills to pay and needs to satisfy. Money was abundant, and so were the nice things she wanted. Not to mention the beautiful and elegantly furnished love nest she rented where some of the "physical love" offered on Therese's doorstep were consummated. She was at the top of her game.

There's more.
